Administration - What's New? Thank you so much to everyone who came and helped clean up the church on Saturday October 8th! You all did an amazing job of getting projects done. The church needs people like all of you to keep it looking it's best. Give yourselves a pat on the back for a job well done! The office is still in dire need to someone to coordinate the volunteer schedule. I know that may sound intimidating, but it is not that time consuming especially if you are one who communicates well with email. Most of our current volunteers communicate through email which saves time from having to sit down and make phone calls to people. We have a handful of current volunteers but can always use more if you are interested. The coordinator DOES NOT have to be someone who can work in the office. If you work full time but still want to help you could be the coordinator! Please talk to me if you think this might be something you could do.
Something to Ponder....
September 7, 2011- Just a quick note about something that was revealed to me this past weekend.....After being upset by someone's actions this past week I decided I was going to take a walk and clear my head. I walked around our neighborhood with my face to the ground and my head trying to figure out how to best handle the situation and rationalize that I was right and the other person was wrong. I got about 2 houses from home and glanced at the sky. I stopped dead in my tracks and thought to myself...here I have been walking for the last 15 minutes looking down and I could have been looking up(both figuratively and literally) and enjoying God's great beauty and the wonderfully blue sky and bright sunshine. Next time you find yourself "down in the mought" about something, take a moment to look up and you will be amazed at how God can change your view in an instant.
August 12th: Do you ever wonder if God REALLY knows all about you? If you have ever asked yourself a question similar to that then please keep reading... I was driving our truck home from St Louis on I-44 the other day with our 3 kids under the age of 6 in the back seat desperatley seeking a Subway restaurant for lunch. We decided to get off at one exit and see what we could find but no one could agree on a place to eat. We got back on the interstate and headed toward home. Suddenly while driving I hear a loud popping noise that almost sounded as if glass broke. I immediately looked in my mirror to see if I had run over something or lost something out of the bed of our truck. I didn't notice anything so I kept going and proceeded to get off at the next exit, still in search of the Subway. When I started to slow down I noticed that the truck seemed to feel funny as if something were wrong. I pull to the side of the exit ramp and open the door to look at my rear tire and sure enough if is flat as can be. So here I am in a big city, stuck on the interstate at lunch time with 3 small kids and no help in sight. I proceeded to call my husband even though I knew he would not be able to help me and then called Ford Roadside Assistance. The nice people at Ford called a towing company to come and change my tire but I soon found out that they would not be able to arrive for at least 50 minutes! As soon as I hung up my cell phone wondering what in the world I was going to do with my kids for an hour a guy pulls up behind me in his truck and asks if I want him to change my tire. For those of you who don't know me that well, I will just tell you that I am terrified of stange people, espcially men and especially in a big city. God knew that, so he sent someone dressed in nice khaki shorts with a Polo shirt and loafers. The man quickly went to work knowing exactly where to find everything he needed on my truck to change the tire. (Again God knew that I didn't have a clue where anything was that he needed to change the tire!) After about 45 minutes I had 4 good tires on my truck and we were heading back home again. My point is that God knew I did not have the patience that day to sit on the side of the road with my children for 2 hours waiting to have the tire changed and He knew that I would have been terrified if someone who did not appear to be safe had stopped and offered to help. Knowing this, He sent someone to help me who He knew I could trust without being afraid. The nice man would not take anything from me for helping us, not even a bottle of water. I thanked God all the way home that He provided for us what we needed when we needed it and asked Him to bless the man who helped us. By the way, we never did find a Subway....ended up eating at McDonald's! August 1st: While listening to a TV talk show the other day I heard an interesting statement from a Late Night Talk Show host that I would like to share with you. He has a TV show currently and someone from another country decided to do the same exact show except it was in another language. When the original actor was asked how he felt about this person "stealing his idea", his response was something to the effect that he could choose to friend him or foe him and he was choosing to friend him. I thought that was a good philosophy to have in life, when someone does something against you, you have a choice. I am positive that Jesus would want us to choose Friend! What do you think? |
